Recent Pennsylvania car accidents: Van strikes 4

A woman and child are still in critical condition after they as well as two others were struck by a van after leaving a party. Police say the accident occurred in West Philadelphia’s Parkside area on a Saturday evening in late November. When car accidents result in serious injury of innocent victims, the victims are typically entitled to file personal injury claims against those believed responsible.

Police say that a 2-year-old child, a 6-year-old girl as well as two women, ages 25 and 30, were attempting to cross a street around 5:30 p.m. As they were doing so, they were struck by an 1996 Dodge Ram operated by a 77-year-old man. Both children were taken to a children’s hospital in Philadelphia while the women were both taken to a local hospital.

The driver was not injured during the crash. He told police that he was attempting to navigate around other vehicles that were parked illegally at the time the four victims were struck, investigators say. According to loved ones, the victims had just left the birthday party of the children’s 75-year-old grandmother when the accident occurred.

Understandably, victims of car accidents can face long-term ramifications. Severe injuries typically result in hospitalization, which leads to treatment and the resultant medical costs. The adult victims may miss time from work and may even need rehabilitation and/or long-term care. Given the nature of this particular accident, the injured victims may file personal injury claims against the party thought responsible; a parent or legal guardian would be entitled to pursue claims on behalf of the children. Victims in Pennsylvania typically consult an experienced personal injury attorney in similar circumstances.
