Recent Pennsylvania car accidents: young singer killed

A driver in a car accident that took the life of a young woman was recently charged in connection with the fatal crash. An 18-year-old Belleville woman was behind the wheel when an accident occurred that killed a 20-year-old Bloomfield woman. When fatal car accidents like these occur due to a driver’s negligence, loved ones of the deceased are typically entitled to file a wrongful death suit against the party or parties believed responsible.

The accident occurred in Bucks County on the evening of Aug. 2, 2015. Pennsylvania State Police arrived at the scene of a rollover on the northbound lane of I-95 in Lower Makefield Township. Authorities discovered six people around an SUV, whose injuries varied from minor to one individual who was unresponsive, according to the state police.

The accident allegedly occurred when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed by driving onto the shoulder, but she lost control of the vehicle. The SUV swerved back onto the road and then into the grassy median, at which point it rolled over multiple times. In the process, police say three individuals were ejected from the SUV. Two occupants were taken to a local medical center, where one was pronounced dead. The speed limit where the accident took place was 55 mph, but police estimate the SUV was traveling at a rate of around 70 mph at the time the accident occurred.

The deceased victim, an aspiring singer, and musician had just auditioned for American Idol in Philadelphia. If the driver ends up convicted of any of the pending criminal charges against her, proof of it may help advance any related wrongful death or personal injury claims in civil court. When fatal car accidents like this one occur in Pennsylvania, victims—including the surviving families of the deceased victim—typically choose to consult an experienced personal injury attorney to determine what legal steps may be appropriate with regard to any potential claims for monetary damages based upon the negligence of another party to the collision.
