Woman sues for medical malpractice due to delivery complications

Most of the medical professionals in Pennsylvania are not only highly trained in their respective areas of medicine, but they also seek to make sure that their patients receive the highest levels of attention and care. However, due to the complicated aspects of medicine and health care, when mistakes do occur, they often have very serious consequences. As a result of a serious injury that was allegedly caused by his actions, a doctor and senator from another state is facing a medical malpractice suit.

The doctor was caring for a woman at the time she went into labor, according to court documents. Due to associated complications from her delivery, the patient contracted an infection that required a treatment regimen. She was prescribed two antibiotics, one of which was Gentamicin. Her doctor ordered a local home health company to administer this antibiotic.

This home health company allegedly taught the patient’s husband how to administer the antibiotics, so he could perform this action instead of a professional nurse, as the doctor had originally ordered, according to the lawsuit. Further, the patient was not tested to monitor her body’s levels of Gentamicin. These alleged oversights and negligence on the doctor’s behalf resulted in the patient suffering from Gentamicin toxicity. This caused her severe pain and mental anguish and led to the need for further treatment and additional medical evaluations. She was permanently injured, according to the lawsuit.

There are many patients across Pennsylvania that seek medical help and treatments for their ailments every year. They place a large amount of faith in medical professionals while they are under their care. Unfortunately, mistakes do occur that have the potential to cause extensive damage to a person’s health and well-being. If mistakes are the result of negligence by medical professionals, victims sometimes seek to file medical malpractice suits. By contacting attorneys who are experienced in medical malpractice, victims can learn if they have viable cases.
