Recent Pennsylvania car accidents: 2-vehicle wreck caused injury

As Pennsylvania residents know, when car accidents occur, the chance for serious injury is often, unfortunately, great. Even if the accidents are caused by a lapse in focus or driver error, the effects can be disastrous. However, when car accidents are caused by the willing recklessness of another individual, the accident often adds insult to injury.

Two men now face a slew of charges in relation to an accident that occurred in the middle of August. It occurred in Lafayette Township on U.S. route 219. The accident resulted in at least one person, one of his passengers, being injured. In addition to the driver facing charges, his other passenger also faces charges for delaying the extrication of the injured passenger, among other charges.

According to court records, a 46-year-old man who was driving tailgated another vehicle being driven by a 21-year-old woman before it sideswiped it, after which he sped off. After sideswiping yet another vehicle, the man lost control of his vehicle and it ran off the road. He left the scene on foot. One of the passengers in his vehicle, a female, was injured in the accident and rushed to a local medical center. According to the authorities, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor.

The investigation into this thoughtless accident is still ongoing. If the prosecutors are able to secure a conviction on a charge that is related to this car accident and the injury of the passenger, it is typically used as evidence in a personal injury claim. This could be used to help establish negligence on the part of the driver. Negligence is required to be proved before the court will assess whether or not to award any damages. When Pennsylvania residents are involved in car accidents that result in their serious injury, they often consult an experienced personal injury attorney to assess their cases and help them in the ensuing litigation.
