A man was injured recently when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck. The accident occurred on a recent Saturday in November in Ephrata, police say. When motorcycle accidents like these occur in Pennsylvania and the victims are seriously injured, they may sometimes be entitled to file a personal injury claim to help pay for expenses they incur as a result of the accident.

Police say that the motorcyclist, a 36-year-old man of Ephrata, stopped on East Main Street and was waiting to make a turn when the truck crashed into his motorcycle, rear-ending him, according to the police report. The man was ejected from his motorcycle. The truck ran over the motorcycle, which became wedged beneath the truck as it traveled an additional 50 feet.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby medical center with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck’s driver, a 19-year-old man from Conestoga, claimed that he did not see the motorcycle, which was stopped in the middle of his lane of traffic, police say. The accident resulted in both lanes of traffic being closed for around an hour.

Police have yet to release any further information regarding possible charges for the truck’s driver; however, it is possible that he will be facing charges for his role in the accident. The motorcyclist may be faced with mounting medical bills as well as lost pay due to being involved in this accident. Fortunately, when motorcycle accidents occur in Pennsylvania due to the proved negligence of another party, the victims may be entitled to file a personal injury suit against the responsible party. Successfully navigated, this kind of suit sometimes offers financial compensation to the victims to ameliorate some of the financial difficulties they incur from being involved in an accident like this. Victims typically begin this process by consulting with an experienced personal injury attorney to discuss their individual situation.
