Car accidents: Pennsylvania crash causes deaths, injuries

Understanding how a car crash happened can often play a vital role in the aftermath of the incident. Because there are various causes that could lead to car accidents, authorities are tasked with investigating and providing needed information. A recent incident in Pennsylvania had serious outcomes, and police believe that alcohol and speed were factors.

Reports stated that the accident involved two vehicles. The 32-year-old man driving an SUV was traveling north when he did not stop at a stop sign. The failure resulted in the SUV colliding with a sedan. The SUV then overturned multiple times before coming to a stop by the porch of a residence. The SUV then caught fire, which spread to the porch, but the fire was extinguished quickly.

The driver of the SUV and a 98-year-old passenger in the sedan suffered fatal injuries. The passenger was declared dead at the scene, and the SUV driver was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A 71-year-old passenger in the sedan was ejected, and as a result, she was flown from the scene to an area hospital. The driver of the sedan was also injured and taken from the scene by ambulance.

Car accidents that occur due to impaired drivers are always unfortunate events. Though the driver considered at fault for this Pennsylvania crash died in the incident, the surviving individuals and the family of the deceased victim may still have options for taking legal action. Filing wrongful death and personal injury claims against the estate of the driver deemed responsible could allow those individuals to pursue compensation for allowable damages.
