Motorcycle accidents in Pennsylvania can cause serious harm

As most Pennsylvania residents know, their state has many beautiful country roads and mile after mile of scenic countryside. Many choose to take these vistas in on a vehicle that provides the greatest sense of freedom: the motorcycle. Although motorcycles are one of the best vehicles on which to enjoy this kind of freedom, unfortunately, sometimes accidents occur. When motorcycle accidents happen, the effects can be catastrophic.

A recent motorcycle accident has left one dead and another seriously injured. The accident occurred in Bern Township in early June, late in the day. A husband and wife, both pastors, were riding their motorcycle together.

According to investigators, they were traveling south when a northbound SUV crossed into their lane and collided with them. The woman was killed instantly while her husband was seriously injured. He was flown to a local medical center and listed in critical condition. He is currently suffering serious abdominal injuries as well as recovering from a leg amputation. The driver of the SUV was taken to a local medical center and later released.

Although the investigation has not been completed, it is possible that the negligence of the driver of the SUV played a part in causing this tragic accident. In the state of Pennsylvania, when a person’s proved negligence causes serious harm to another person in a vehicle accident, including motorcycle accidents, the victims are often entitled to file personal injury claims. Successfully filed, these claims can help ameliorate some of the fallout from a serious accident, such as lost pay and medical bills, as well as pain and suffering. An experienced personal injury lawyer can help victims establish whether or not they have a viable case, can explain the legal process and can defend their rights.
