Medical malpractice claims in Pennsylvania may help individuals regain control

The impacts from the death of a loved one can be far-reaching and long-lasting. The emotional and financial struggles that surviving loved ones may face can result in individuals feeling as if their lives are out of control. If their loved one’s death resulted from medical malpractice, filing a claim in hopes of gaining compensation may help some individuals feel more in control.

Pennsylvania residents may be interested in one out-of-state family’s malpractice case that recently proved successful. Reports stated that the family lost a 78-year-old loved one after he had gone to the emergency room for shortness of breath and other concerns. The staff determined that the man needed to be admitted in order to be treated for congestive heart failure and other issues.

The man’s condition worsened, and he was supposed to be moved to the critical care unit. However, by the time he was moved 11 hours later, he had already become unresponsive. The man’s condition did not improve, and he was removed from life support after 11 days. The family filed a malpractice claim and were recently awarded $250,000.

Compensation from successful civil claims could help negatively affected individuals in a variety of ways. They may be able to use monetary awards for outstanding medical expenses, funeral costs and other options to help lessen the resulting burdens created by the unnecessary death. Therefore, if Pennsylvania residents have lost loved ones due to medical malpractice, they may wish to consider their legal options for pursuing recompense. Conferring with experienced attorneys could allow them to gain reliable information about their options.
