Motorcycle accidents: DUI crash injures woman in Pennsylvania

Being seriously injured in an accident involving a drunk driver can immensely impact a person’s life. Motorcycle accidents can be particularly severe, and it is not unlikely for motorcyclists hit by other vehicles to suffer substantial injuries. Though criminal charges are likely after DUI accidents, negatively affected individuals could file civil claims of their own.

One woman may consider filing a personal injury claim after being seriously injured in a recent Pennsylvania accident. Reports stated that the woman was operating a motorcycle heading south when she was hit from behind by another vehicle. Emergency crews had to get the woman out from underneath the vehicle. Authorities suspected that the driver of that vehicle was under the influence at the time of the incident.

The motorcyclist was seriously injured, but details on her injuries were not given in the report. She was reported as being 60 years old. The driver of the second vehicle was reported as being a 38-year-old man, and he is currently facing charges. Aggravated assault with a vehicle while under the influence, DUI and other allegations were leveled against him. It was not mentioned whether he was injured in the crash.

The woman seriously injured in this incident — and individuals similarly affected by motorcycle accidents — may wish to look into personal injury options. Filing a claim against the driver considered at fault could allow her to pursue compensation for damages permitted under Pennsylvania law. If the driver is convicted of the criminal charges brought against him, the chances of success for a civil claim may increase.
